A Little About Me
Hi, I'm Kelly-Anne Breen, a therapist, divorce coach, co-parenting counsellor and parenting coordinator committed to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s most challenging transitions with clarity, compassion, and confidence.
With a background in counselling psychology and specialized training in relationship dynamics, separation, and co-parenting, I support clients through all stages of relational change—whether you’re seeking deeper connection, considering separation, or navigating co-parenting after divorce.
My approach is grounded, emotionally attuned, and collaborative. I believe that healing happens in safe, respectful spaces where you can feel seen and supported without judgment. My goal is to help you strengthen your self-awareness, develop effective communication, and make choices that align with your values and your future.
I offer in-person sessions from my office at Marine Drive & Capilano Road in North Vancouver—easily accessible from West Vancouver and downtown Vancouver—as well as virtual sessions for clients across British Columbia.
Whether you're working through relationship struggles, redefining family life, or simply looking for a space to reconnect with yourself, I’m here to help.

This diverse and integrative training allows me to work effectively with clients navigating emotional, relational, legal, and parenting complexities. I approach each family and individual with care, clarity, and a deep respect for the challenges and strengths they bring.
Counselling Approach
My approach to counselling is integrative, trauma-informed, and client-centered, grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when people feel safe, seen, and supported. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating complex life transitions—whether you're seeking clarity in your relationship, healing after separation, or building a healthier co-parenting dynamic.
I offer a compassionate and collaborative space where your experiences are respected, and your goals guide the process. Therapy with me is never one-size-fits-all. While I bring structure and clinical expertise, I believe you are the expert on your own life. Together, we co-create a path forward that honours your values, strengths, and challenges.
My work is informed by a deep understanding of trauma, emotional regulation, and relational systems. I take great care to create emotional safety, allowing you to explore difficult patterns and develop insight at your own pace. Sessions balance meaningful reflection with practical tools—helping you build skills in communication, boundaries, emotional resilience, and self-leadership.
Because every person and family system is different, I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, Family Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills, and narrative and strength-based approaches. I also integrate principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and collaborative, trauma-informed divorce coaching.
Above all, I believe therapy is not about “fixing” you—it’s about supporting you in reconnecting with your inner clarity, rebuilding trust in yourself, and creating more intention and integrity in your relationships and life.
Violence Threat and Risk Assessment (V-TRA)
As a certified Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) trainer, I have had the privilege of supporting schools, mental health professionals, law enforcement, and community agencies in understanding and implementing the VTRA model across interdisciplinary settings.
The VTRA model—developed by Kevin Cameron and the North American Center for Threat Assessment and Trauma Response—emphasizes early intervention, collaborative response, and trauma-informed assessment of high-risk behaviours in children and youth. Through my work, I’ve trained multi-agency teams in how to identify, assess, and respond to warning signs of violence, ensuring both safety and support for individuals at risk and their communities.
My background as a therapist and family systems practitioner enhances my ability to integrate clinical, relational, and systemic insight into the VTRA framework. I am especially passionate about helping professionals understand the intersection of trauma, attachment, and risk, and how to engage compassionately while maintaining clear safety protocols.
In my role as a VTRA trainer, I also emphasize the importance of building collaborative community protocols, supporting schools and organizations in developing sustainable, team-based approaches to intervention and prevention.
This work continues to inform my counselling practice, particularly in supporting youth, families, and school systems navigating high-stress situations, conflict, and risk dynamics.
